Always a crowd favourite, half of this 2014 Chardonnay was fermented in stainless steel for aromatic purity and the other half in oak to build texture and complexity. Lemon zest, green apple, toasted hazelnut, and matchstick (yes, matchstick) aromas pair with subtle French oak flavours, soft acidity, and a creamy mouthfeel.
An early spring led to an incredibly warm summer in 2014. In fact, it was the most heat we had seen since 2003, when our vineyards were still hayfields. The summer heat continued into a long and warm fall, giving us ideal conditions to ripen even our most stubborn varieties. It was one of those vintages that made you wonder when exactly the ‘cool’ part of cool-climate viticulture was going to show up.
