Monte Creek Ranch is currently seeking a qualified Vineyard Foreman.  Monte Creek Ranch is 75-acre vineyard located in the South Thompson valley, 20 minutes east of Kamloops. Our objective is to produce premium wines that reflect and respect our unique terroir.

Responsibilities

  • Assist vineyard manager in training and developing vineyard leads and crew members
  • Assisting and leading in pruning, tying, tucking, planting, spraying, weeding, mowing and harvesting
  • Operate and teach others how to use equipment such as sprayers, hedgers, grape hoe
  • Assist with irrigation system repairs and watering regime
  • Participation in company health and safety meetings
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of workspaces and tools

Position Requirements

  • Willingness to work extreme cold, extreme heat and inclement weather conditions
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50lbs
  • Ability to plan ahead and continuously prioritize daily tasks
  • Valid class 5 driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
  • Experience operating tractors and vineyard equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and high standards of quality control
  • Positive, upbeat “can do” attitude each and every day

Additional assets

  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Valid pesticide applications license
  • Previous vineyard experience in leadership roles
  • Formal vineyard education
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Experience working with vineyard software
  • Valid first aid level 1

Re: Harvest Intern

Job Type: 60-day Contract Position

Reports to: Master Winemaker

Monte Creek Ranch is currently seeking a qualified Harvest Intern for the current 2017 Vintage. This is a 60-day contract position. Monte Creek Ranch is a 300-ton Winery located in the South Thompson valley, 20 minutes east of Kamloops. Our objective is to produce premium wines that reflect and respect our unique terroir.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receiving and processing grapes, including sorting, destemming and pressing
  • Wine movements and barrel work
  • Inoculations, additions, pump overs and punch downs
  • Ferment monitoring
  • Maintaining a high level of cleanliness and sanitation

Qualifications

  • Preference to those with at least one harvest experience
  • Ability to drive a forklift.
  • Able to lift/move 22kgs
  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends over the harvest period
